5 Lifestyle Changes that Really Do Help Relieve Back Pain

Almost all of us experience some aches and pains every now and again, but if you are feeling back pain or neck pain regularly, you are likely looking for relief!

There really are basic lifestyle changes that you can embrace which will help you to manage your aches and pains from back and neck pain to leg and knee pain. Consider making these changes if you are looking for back pain relief:

Change Your Shoes

It is easy to love your old pair of shoes for their comfort, but if you are experiencing lower back pain, the problem might be made worse by your shoes. Wearing insufficient shoes can aggravate conditions like disc degeneration, pinched nerves and disc alignment issues. If you also happen to stand for long periods of time it is even more important that you wear proper shoes.

You want your shoes to be in good condition and provide your feet and ankles with proper support. You will want to make sure that your shoes are comfortable and have low heels.

Get a Better Bed

There are a lot of things that will help you get a better nights sleep from neutral shades to white noise to staying hydrated, but nothing will do the trick any better than having a good bed to sleep in. You want to have a bed that provides your spine with adequate support. Latex mattresses and memory foam are recommended by many people because they can conform to the sleeper’s body. These types of mattresses can cradle pressure points which can add to their ability to help reduce back pain. If you notice sleep problems and are also experiencing back pain, now is the time to consider a new bed.

Follow the Anti Inflammatory Diet

How you fuel your body makes a big difference in how your body feels and performs. There are foods that can really help reduce pain by helping to reduce overall inflammation in the body. On the other hand, there are foods which will aggravate inflammation when you eat them and thereby may increase pain levels. The Anti Inflammatory DIet is designed to help you eat more foods that will decrease inflammation and less foods that make it worse. You don’t have to change your whole diet all at once, making small changes one at a time will be easier to maintain.

Create a Home Office

It is really important if you find yourself working from home or if you have a student who spends a lot of hours studying that you make an adequate place for that. Aside from the usual suspects like a desk and good lighting, you should consider the chairs you are using. You may want to invest in an ergonomic office chair if you find yourself  experiencing back pain when you work at home. Make sure that the chair you choose is appropriately adjusted to the height of the desk and that you remember to stand up and walk around every twenty minutes or so to increase your blood flow.

Learn Better Stress Management

There is no question that stress can lead to increased back and neck pain. You might experience stiffness in your neck and shoulders or even headaches due to stress. If you find yourself having a hard time handling stress try some basic self care. If you find that you are still having trouble, consider yoga or meditation to help ease the tension.

Back Pain Relief

If making some lifestyle changes doesn’t do the trick and you are still experiencing pain or stiffness in your back, neck or shoulders it may be time for you to visit your local chiropractic center. Chiropractors can use tools like Class IV Lasers, Percussor Therapy and Decompression Therapy to help relieve your pain.
