No one does football quite like the south, and nowhere is that more true than it is in Georgia. From the Atlanta Falcons to the Georgia Bulldogs to some of the country’s best high school football, there is a lot to cheer for this football season!
The Atlanta Falcons Football Season
The Falcons play their home games at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, which is also the site of the Chick-fil-A College Football Kickoff Games, home of the Atlanta United FC and host of a myriad of other terrific sporting events. The team is led by veteran quarterback Matt Ryan and welcomes new head coach Arthur Smith this season.
The team has also acquired Cordarrelle Patterson, who is considered one of the best return specialists in the NFL and he definitely brings a great amount of diversity to the offense. Hopefully these factors all come together this football season to create something special for the Falcons.
NFL Players From Georgia
One of the biggest names to come out of last year’s NFL Draft was Trevor Lawrence. Lawrence played his high school football career at Cartersville High School from 2014 until 2018 before eventually being drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Another memorable name from the draft is Justin Fields. Fields is a native of Kennesaw, Georgia and played football at Harrison High School. The former Mr. Georgia Football is now playing quarterback for the Chicago Bears on Sundays.
Darius Slay was born in Brunswick, Georgia. He played football at Brunswick High School where he won All State honors and was a standout in the Georgia North-South All-Star Game. Slay is now a defensive back for the Philadelphia Eagles, and definitely showing his skills off in the NFL.
Georgia Bulldogs Football
The football season has started strong for the Bulldogs, having already beaten opponents like Clemson, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. Head coach Kirby Smart is looking for an SEC Championship on the road to the college football playoffs with standout players like quarterback JT Daniels, running back James Cook and defenders like Jordan Davis and Adam Anderson. We’re keeping an eye out for the Bulldogs as they work their way to continuous victories.
Don’t look for things to change anytime soon with the Dawgs either, because recruiting is going really well. The university has the third best recruiting class in the nation hitting the campus next year.
Grayson Rams Football
Even after a shaky start to the season it is hard to believe that the Grayson Rams’ Varsity Football team won’t give us all something to cheer for this football season. They are the defending three time Class 7A champions.
Head coach Adam Carter is feilding a highly decorated team of stand out players. Griffin Scroggs, a senior offensive guard, is already a top commit for the University of Georgia next year. Also returning is Walt Flynn who was last year’s 2020 MaxPreps Freshman All-America first team selection. So, don’t count the Rams out yet!
